Antiques Appraisal with Historic Schaefferstown
April 23, 2011 - 9am to 3pm
Curious About Old Items You Have? Historic Schaefferstown Inc will hold its 2nd Antiques Appraisal in the basement of the Brendle Museum. Once again the appraiser will be Terry Breidenstine. Guidelines: Each person may bring up to five items. The cost for each item is $5.00. It’s always interesting to see what someone else is bringing to the appraisal. Mark the date on your calendar and bring something you want to know about. Call 717-949-2244 for more information.

HSI Cherry Fair and Early American Craft Show
June 25, 2011 - 10am to 5pm
The Schaefferstown Cherry Fair dates back to the 1700s. First held at the town square, the event is now held at the historic 90-acre Alexander Schaeffer Farm, on Route 501 just south of Schaefferstown, PA
Admission is $5, children 12 and under are free.
Features: quality period crafters, colonial demonstrations, family corner, hands on activities, wagon rides, music, contests, guided house and heirloom garden tours, blacksmith shop and sawmill demos, raffle & sheep to shawl, cherry goodies, tasty food and ice cream. Held rain or shine.

HSI Fall Harvest Fair
September 17: 10am-5pm / September 18: noon-5pm
Come celebrate the harvest the Pennsylvania German way! The Alexander Schaeffer Farm comes alive during the Fall Harvest Fair. Enjoy period artisans, crafts, cooking. baking. cider-pressing, field and farm demnstrations, traditional music and entertainment and much more!
There will be logging with horses, plowing, disking, and harrowing with horses, threshing of the rye grown on the farm. See the old sawmill and shingle maker in action. Demonstators will be pressing apple cider, making apple butter, shelling corn, and cracking corn. View the colonial 4 square garden with heirloom plants. Tours of the Schaeffer house will be available, along with the spring house and the summer house. There is something for everyone.

Our gallery is open with regular weekly hours until December 23 when we will close for the winter season... reopening again in the spring.
